- Family Rooms
|
We
offer reductions for children in a 'family room'. Any children
under 16 must be staying in a private room with their parents. This is for the protection of children
and for the peace of mind and comfort of the parents and
our other customers. So when calculating and price for
a family room the private room rate will be used. |
- A Good Area for the Kids
-
- IN AND AROUND
NEWTONMORE
-
- This is a great area for low
level walks, maybe involving some water or even some
mud. There are also many safe areas for paddling and
swimming and sandy beaches can be found at Loch Insh
(10 miles) and Loch Morlich (20 miles). Both these
lochs are water sports centres with instruction and
boat hire. The Balavil Hotel in Newtonmore has a small
swimming pool and several hotels in Aviemore have
larger pools. A swim must usually be combined with
lunch, no hardship! Other attractions are the Funhouse
at Coylumbridge, a large indoor play area and Landmark
at Carr-bridge, a large outdoor area with slides and
aerial walkways. In Newtonmore we have the intriguing
Waltzing Waters and the Highland Folk Museum with
it superb children's play area. The Highland Wildlife
Park is also worth a visit on the way to Kincraig.
- Badenoch is mostly about the
outdoors and there is much to do, from a ride on
the Cairngorm Funicular to pony trekking and off-road
cycling. Whatever your interests we think you will
find our Hostel and the area perfect for a family
holiday. The lounge has a good selection of board games. In the
garden the kids can amuse themselves on the swing.

In both of the larger rooms one of the beds is a double, so a family of five could comfortably rent a room
-
It's
a shared room, a private room, a family room, a
group room, a bunk room and a even a bedroom

- Hen
Note
- We did
have three hens, but one died, one got eaten by a
customers dog (yes it really did) and so one was left on it's
own; it was very sad and lonely. So we gave the sad and lonely
hen to some friends who have a larger flock so she
could peck around happily with her pals.
Just now we don't have any hens but Kathryn insists
that we will be getting some new ones one day.
I guess we could have a 'hen party' when they arrive.

Children (a parents guide)
- We welcome all ages, but some of our hostel and
fittings have not been designed for children under the age of 5
years.
- Keep hands (and all other body parts) and socks
off the wood burner (socks melt in an interesting way).
- Very small children would probably be safer on
the bottom bunks.
- The greenhouse, garden shed and garage are out
of bounds.
- Keep out of the borders and in spring and summer,
the area of trees in front of the hostel.
- Shut the gates if you want to prevent young children
escaping (the main road can be very busy).
- Children should be supervised when using the swing.
- The swing is only suitable
for young children.
- The lawn is not suitable for games of football;
it damages the plants and flowers.
- Please put disposable nappies only in the outside bin,
which is by the back door.
All the above things have happened. We do actually like children, but have had some problems. |
